Stuff White People Like…

 

Random House will release a textbook in August ’08 based on the popular website, Stuff White People Like. The blog, which has received millions of hits, says its ”a scientific approach to highlight and explain stuff white people like. They are pretty predictable.”

#56 Lawyers (hold up, I happen to be one)

#76 Bottles of Water (gasp! I, too, am unable to drink tap water!)

I jest, I jest. There are several things listed that I can’t co-sign, but I think the list is a bit generic.

NPR calls the site “provocative and controversial,” with critics charging that “that the list is racist, stereotypical, and conflates race with economic status.” Christian Lander, the blogger, says its all in good fun.

Apparently, Random House agrees.
